Sunset Surfer – Honolulu, Hawaii

The really huge waves — at the televised competitions — happen on the north shore of Oahu. That’s on the other side of the island in February. Here on Waikiki Beach, during the summer, it’s calm. It doesn’t stop the surfing action, however.

Let’s just say these are tourist-friendly waves. I see the occasional surfing lesson on the beach. Even my sons took lessons on a past visit.

There are fewer surfers at sunset, but it makes for a more dramatic image. Today’s photo and the last two posts were made minutes apart. You can see that the sun is setting lower in each picture.
