I snapped a few photos of Sainte-Chapelle as I exited and headed for my next destination. I posted a picture from a distance, but here is the chapel up close. The first picture is almost minimalist compared to the rest of the facade and the richly detailed interior I featured yesterday.
As colorful as the stained glass is inside, the outside gives no hint of the multi-chromatic windows. The tan sandstone blocks and the dark windows looked even austere. If anything, the monochrome treatments add drama to the architecture.
The other vantage points offer more detailing, however. It’s a handsome structure but perhaps doesn’t stand out in a city filled with beautiful architecture. The inside, on the other hand, is one of a kind.
