The Four Views of Venus

Venus de Milo, Louvre – Paris, France

I knew of one famous painting at the Louvre but was unfamiliar with their other works, including this very noteworthy sculpture. And while I’m no art historian, the Venus de Milo was famous enough for me to identify. I recognized one other statue, which I’ll feature later.

As you can tell, Venus was placed prominently and given ample room for the appreciating crowds and its worldwide stature. When shot directly without the interference of the public, you get a pure and clean appreciation of the work, though you miss the context. The exhibit wasn’t choked with crowds, though, as you can see, a healthy group surrounded Greek beauty.

Capturing the environment from multiple angles seemed worthwhile, as you can see here.
