Stairway to Victory, Louvre – Paris, France

This photo is my favorite from the Louvre. I shot several from this vantage point to get the ideal motion blur, handheld at 1/2 of a second.

I’ve named this post after this page on the Louvre’s website, featuring beautiful photography — as expected. The Louvre does have the advantage of being able to take photographs without any people. However, I think my picture has more character — making the liability of tourist clutter into an artistic element.

You might have recognized the Winged Victory of Samothrace atop the Daru staircase. I blogged about the famous sculpture a couple of days ago. However, I also featured this same staircase a week ago in Louvre Interior Architecture #2. If you look closely, you can make out the tiny Winged Victory.
