Two days ago, I mentioned that I experimented with extremely slow shutter speeds at the Musée d’Orsay — as slow as half of a second, and here is a result. Loads of motion blur as the visitors walk in front of my camera. Isn’t image stabilization fantastic? I can make these kinds of images without a tripod.
My objective was to add abstraction to the image. And since we were in a gallery of impressionistic paintings — which already are more abstract than realism — I added another layer of abstraction. Or at least that was my intention.
Doing photographic tricks made my visit even more fun, and I had to make multiple attempts. Much of how these pictures look is highly dependent on traffic flow. I make a bunch and select the most desirable motion blur effect. I’ll feature more of these in the next couple of posts.
