Being a former train station, the Musée d’Orsay has many boldly displayed clocks. There’s the ornate golden one in the main shed and one in the cafe. However, this clock may be my favorite because of the dramatic architecture and silhouettes, especially in black and white.
The museum’s facade features two identical clocks in towers on either end of the structure. Thus, this clock should be the same design as the one in the cafe. However, this one is more accessible for photography and viewing the Parisian cityscape.
I often prefer not having a mass of people in my composition — they clutter the frame. However, these silhouettes add to the visual interest instead of detract. I took a few different pictures, some at wider angles. But I like this tight, symmetrical crop the most.
