I mentioned yesterday that my wife and I ate sweets at a cafe on the Champs-Élysées, and here it is — a McDonald’s. I picked it as a joke that would irk my foodie sister and make for a good story.
Except, the macaroons and our other selections weren’t half bad. I imagine to survive in Paris, they have to be decent. We are no macaroon experts, but my wife said they tasted better than the ones she had in Westlake, an affluent suburb of Austin, and at least as good as ones from Whole Foods. We later explored high-end and famous French establishments that were undoubtedly better.
However, compare this to the usual McDonald’s that we have in America, and it’s like a different place. Here are a few more images from the McDonald’s on Champs-Élysées. It’s no strip mall McDonald’s from the burbs.
