Gas Station Sunset

Gas Station Sunset - Mojave Desert, Arizona

Gas Station Sunset – Mojave Desert, Arizona

A picture of a gas station might be an odd way to end coverage of my day-long van tour, especially since the last group of pictures were landscapes from Grand Canyon West. However, I’m ultimately a city person, and architecture and an approaching blue hour are always good topics for me.

And while most people might prefer nature and landscapes, I love angles, architecture, and modernity. The glow of civilization is comforting to me, even if it was only for a rest stop between the Mojave Desert and the Las Vegas Strip.

After using the chunky medium-format Fujifilm GFX for most of the day, I switch to the compact Fuji X-S10. It was easier for me to handle, and as much as I like a good gas station shot, it wasn’t worth burning 51MP on the image with the GFX.
