Day five in Las Vegas was the last time my high school buddies would be together for the trip. After a day of activities, we closed our gathering at a show, opting to see Michael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil.
I saw this show several years ago with my family and loved it. Besides one other and me, the show was new to the rest of the group. Given that we were all nearly 60 years old, Michael Jackson fit into our generation. We conveniently walked underground, going from the Luxor south to Mandalay Bay.
Unlike other Cirque du Soleil spectacles, this one is different. Instead of just acrobatics, the show elaborately reproduced and extended the drama and artistry of Michael Jackson’s music videos. And, of course, there were all those catchy pop songs — I enjoyed it just as much the second time. They didn’t allow photography during the show, so I shot a few frames pre-show documenting the theater instead.
