The Beauty of Urban Trams

Tram - Zurich, Switzerland

Tram – Zurich, Switzerland

When I got off the train station in Zurich, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of trams servicing the station. I noticed a lot more as I walked to the old town. I have a soft spot for these urban trains as an efficient city transportation system. I even created a Photo Essay of Trams in Amsterdam.

I’m featuring a couple of trams zipping through the city. I love the contrast of the sleek modern vehicles with the old stone architecture. To capture this first scene, I zoomed to a 120mm equivalent.

This second photo is a normal 44mm equivalent shot on the same street as the first image, possibly shot from the same spot I. Just two minutes separate the two pictures.

However, they are not the same tram. Although both have a modern design, notice that they are different. I saw several different styles during my brief stay in Zurich. And because I love trams so much, this will not be my only post about them; each will have a unique perspective.
