From my recent posts, you can tell I’m enamored with the small city of Chur, Switzerland. The pictures were mainly of the central core and the historic districts. However, off in the distance, I noticed houses out in the countryside — sort of like a suburb, I guess, of this small city.
And what a suburb it is. The residences look more densely packed than the American variety. However, the natural surroundings really shine — all that greenery and towering mountains. What’s not to like? They are also close to a compact city. It is walkable, I’m sure, though I haven’t traversed it myself. Central Chur is a car-free city, so I’m sure there is adequate public transportation.
I shot these with a moderate telephoto range of 60mm to 88mm, creating slight image compression. The last photo is particularly interesting, not just because of the houses but also because of the small dots in the sky above the clouds. I didn’t notice them when I shot the picture, but zooming in, I discovered they were hot air balloons.
