A Station with a View

Train Station - Chur, Switzerland

Train Station – Chur, Switzerland

I’ve posted many pictures of trains from Zurich and even Paris lately. While they may have stations with dramatic architecture, they don’t have an epic scenic backdrop like this. I arrived in Chur, Switzerland, the night before and didn’t see any of the surroundings. My hour-and-a-half photo walk revealed a beautiful compact city. This view from the station was the icing on the cake.

I didn’t get on any of these trains. I just took pictures of them while I waited. The train we were waiting for was unique and definitely geared towards tourists. I’ll talk about that tomorrow.

Bus Station - Chur, Switzerland

These modern white, red, and black trains are from the Swiss Federal Railways, the national railway company of Switzerland. Notice the SBB CFF FFS written on the side of the train? This surprisingly long and complicated acronym is the name of the company. The three acronyms represent the prominent three languages spoken in Switzerland. SBB = Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (German), CFF = Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses (French), and FFS = Ferrovie federali svizzere (Italian).
