Little Electric Taxis – Zermatt, Switzerland

I was pleasantly surprised by the little electric taxis parked next to the train station. These are the only types of vehicles I saw in Zermatt. According to my research, only electric vehicles are allowed for most to keep the air as clean as possible. Some exceptions are made for specialty vehicles.

Also, like the center of Chur, Zermatt is a car-free town. There is an ease in walking through a place with no cars, which we don’t often experience. The added plus for photographers is not seeing a clutter of vehicles in your images (other than around the station) that distracts from urban photography.

Our hotel had its own shuttle that looked identical to these but was painted a deep tan with the hotel’s logo. The vehicle comfortably seated four and had enough space for our luggage. The electric propulsion made for a very space-efficient vehicle in a small package.
