I made this picture from the Gornergrat-Bahn, the train that takes you from Zermatt to the top of the mountain at Gornergrat. You need to be on the right side of the train as you go up the mountain to snag this view. Thus, we waited for the next train and paid extra for priority boarding. Our train was pretty empty, so I had the opportunity to shoot out on both sides.
The entire reason for the Switzerland trip was so my mother could see the famous Matterhorn. I didn’t realize until this trip that my mom loves mountains. When I was in high school, I made my first European trip to France with my mom and sister. We visited Chamonix, France, to see Mont Blanc, another famous mountain. Now, it all made sense.
Over the years, my mom and dad went to Europe a few times, and she saw the other famous mountains. The Matterhorn was the last one to complete her set.
I still experienced annoying reflections shooting out the window like I did on the Glacier Express. However, this picture is not bad. You can see some slight reflections on the color version, which is completely hidden with the black and white.
I liked both images and decided to post both versions.
