Concourse Blur, Gare de Lyon – Paris, France

I didn’t see the main concourse at Gare de Lyon on my way to Switzerland, but I saw it when I returned to Paris. It’s an elegant and more civilized place than the industrial-looking train shed.

As you can see here, it was packed, so I opted to use a slow shutter speed, 1/8 of a second, to create motion blur. This image is more interesting than a static view of a crowded station.

There’s probably much more to explore in Gare de Lyon, but we were off to our hotel in Paris. For most cities, this train station is enough of a photographic destination for a deep study. However, with the abundant elegant architecture in Paris, why be limited by the station? We hopped on a subway to find our hotel near the Marais District.
