I talked about the sleek funicular yesterday that takes you to the top of Montmartre — we opted for this easier route. However, there’s another way. Running parallel to the funicular tracks is this impressive stone stairway. It’s more scenic but indeed more effort.
My athletic ability and interest have improved in the last two years since I’ve visited Paris. Now, I would consider taking the stairs for a good workout and taking pictures. The funicular is a quick 90-second ride. How long would the stairs take?
As you can see, the stairs are beautifully integrated into the neighborhood fabric. You may suffer going up those stairs but can also revel in the details. Which would you pick?
