The top of Montmartre offers spectacular views as I blogged about recently. I took that picture directly in front of the Sacre Coeur. While the views are commanding, the cityscape lacks a focal point other than an oddly-shaped structure on the horizon next to industrial chimneys belching smoke. Admittedly, not the most attractive. I was pleased to discover something better.
After leaving the church and walking along the back street, a clearing offers a more awe-inspiring site. Who can resist the slender elegance of the Eiffel Tower?
The foreground elements slightly impinge on the tower, which adds a welcome dimension and character. Looking past the trees and the apartments, there’s a sense of depth, like a private view from someone’s window.
