Cobblestone and Umbrellas

Cobblestone and Umbrellas, Montmartre – Paris, France

I certainly would’ve preferred a sunny or overcast day to rain, but what could I do other than take advantage of it? Photographically, rain and wet elements have some pluses, especially on cobblestone streets where the shine highlights the texture.

Also, I like the graphical look of people carrying umbrellas, which I talked about in this post from Zurich, Switzerland. That was the last time it rained during this 2022 European trip.

The wet cobblestone picture of Switzerland is even more dramatic, with deep shadows. This scene from Montmartre in Paris is lighter and airier. However, similar design principles exist, with precipitation, texture, and old buildings adding a frame.
