Loggia Door, Opéra Garnier – Paris, France

Issue 65 of my fabulous photography magazine is hot off the digital presses (via email). This month’s issue includes my fun trip to NYC, three new cameras I recently purchased, the joy of sharing, and more. Sign up for the free magazine to get the next issue and all the previous issues.

This may look like a nicely ornate but unassuming door (or window). However, it’s actually a portal to a spectacular world that is unexpected when you look at this exterior facade. I’m still on the loggia, on the second floor, of Opéra Garnier. After taking in the Paris view I showed yesterday, I was ready to return inside.

I like how you can see the streetscape and architecture in the door’s reflection.

Pass through the portal, and you will be transported back into a golden world with indescribable ornate carvings. You’ll probably remember I had a few posts about this golden Grand Foyer a few days back. This is the last look at this wonderland before finishing the rest of the tour.

Unlike my other Grand Foyer photos, I used an extremely slow shutter, handheld at 1/2 second, creating the highest possible image quality at ISO 200. I also benefited from a motion blur of three people in formation.
