Eiffel Tower with Bridge – Paris, France

I have one more of the iconic Eiffel Tower in this mini-series, though I’ll revisit it once more before I finally finish this extensive coverage of this Paris trip. We crossed the Seine River as we headed home, and the bridge worked wonderfully as a foreground element.

The Pont d’Iéna bridge opened in 1814, seventy-five years before the tower. While the tower has become synonymous with Paris, it’s only 135 years old — a mere drop in the bucket for this historic city.

As I recall, we took a bus back to the hotel, which seemed more convenient than the Metro from this spot. It was pretty late at night, and we were too tired to stop at a real restaurant for dinner. We opted unceremoniously to pick up fast food at McDonald’s. It sounds like a culinary crime in food-rich Paris and very American. But sometimes expediency wins. At least we ordered something that doesn’t exist on the U.S. menu called a CBO, Chicken Bacon Onion, which we ate in our tiny hotel room.
