Royal Chapel, Palace of Versailles – Versailles, France

Yesterday, I discussed a restrained and attractive piece of architecture I found at the Palace of Versailles. I also mentioned that it was the simplest interior I found. By contrast, here’s an example of one of the palace’s most beautiful interiors: the royal chapel.

While more elaborate, it looks suitably attractive and not entirely over the top. I actually snapped the picture at the bottom first as I toured the first floor. I was later surprised to see it again, though from the vantage point of the second floor.

The palace tour did not allow us to enter the chapel, so I shot from the entrance. Not shown is the crowd of people attempting to make the same shot. I waited my turn for a chance at a clean composition.
