I discussed the Notre-Dame Cathedral yesterday and featured a black and white snapshot from the front. We knew in 2022, when we visited, that the building was far from completion, as evidenced by the extensive reconstruction, especially around the back. The front was complete, other than a wall and construction infrastructure.
However, I wanted a picture of Notre-Dame without any of the reconstruction — something showing what a completed building might look like or what it looked like before the devastating fire. I saw this composition and hit upon the idea. The autumn-tinged trees conveniently blocked any evidence of construction, while clearly, the towers beyond identified it as the iconic structure we all know.
There is a happy ending. The official reopening of Notre-Dame is scheduled for tomorrow, December 7th. Sometimes, dreams do come true.
