On the road to Telluride, Colorado, we stopped at Mountain Village, which looks more like an upscale subdivision than a city. It’s right next to Telluride, and that’s where my wife and I stayed during our short Colorado getaway. Here is a view of The Peaks, one of a few lovely hotels in the area. We didn’t stay there but at a friend’s cozy two-bedroom condo.
After dropping off our luggage at the condo, we drove to the surrounding Mountain Village sights. I busted out the Fujifilm GFX 50R in addition to the Fujifilm X-E3 I brought on the trip. I was just shooting Fujifilm back then, and the GFX 50R was my first medium-format camera, which I purchased in January 2020.
When I scrolled through my 2021 Colorado library, the GFX pictures immediately stood out from the X-E3. There was a deeper natural saturation. In this explosion of fall color, I didn’t add any saturation in post-processing. However, I did add contrast via curves. The late afternoon sun and the colorful autumn leaves were all that were needed.
I took all these pictures in and around The Peaks resort. This is the view beyond the pool area. I also brought only one lens, the Fujifilm 50mm F3.5, which is a 40mm equivalent in full-frame terms. Its field of view nearly matches that of the eye.
