I shot the Fujifilm GFX 50R, as I showed you yesterday, but I also had the APS-C Fujifilm X-E3 with me. As we see in these images, I switched from the 15-45mm kit lens to the 55-200mm telephoto. The longer focal length allows for telephoto compression, which reduces the space between distant objects.
See Forever Village, part of The Peaks resort, which looks dramatic after the mountains are enlarged and looms large as a backdrop. I’m only using a 96mm equivalent, which worked perfectly to frame the foreground structures and the majestic mountains.
Switching to the distant landscape, we get a view similar to what I featured in the last picture of yesterday’s post. Interestingly, the Fuji GFX 50R and the X-E3 have different color renderings. Yesterday, the GFX landscape was at a 40mm equivalent, though I did crop in somewhat. This view is at an 83mm equivalent.
We see a nice landscape layering of a green golf course, houses, and the distant mountains.
I’m standing in the same place but now with a 129mm equivalent focal length. We see the same three layers of golf course, houses, and mountains. However, you can see the curved and flat area in front of the furthest mountains (click on the photo for a larger version). This is Telluride’s small airport with limited commercial services. I didn’t fly into it, which would’ve been very convenient.
