Admittedly, this picture does not look like a classic landscape image. There are no leading lines or even an easily identifiable subject—definitely a no-no in photography. But it speaks to me. I like the almost random patchwork of landscape elements.
I shot this in the Mountain Village subdivision where I stayed. While it may look like a jumbled mess, oddly, I believe I have achieved a visual balance.
The green golf course grass, scraggly brush, deciduous and evergreen trees, modern houses, and snow-capped mountains are all the right elements; they just appear randomly scattered. In my defense, I successfully created clearly identifiable foreground, mid-ground, and background. That draws the viewer into the frame while being ping-ponged through the various visual markers.
