Tree Abstract #3

Tree Abstract - Telluride, Colorado

Tree Abstract – Telluride, Colorado

For the third and last Tree Abstract photo in this mini-series, we are back to a long telephoto on the Fujifilm X-E3. At 259mm equivalent, it’s nearly the most extended setting on the Fujifilm 55-200mm with an 82.5mm to 300mm equivalent.

Unlike the first two abstracts in this series, where texture and detail were the defining elements, color and geometry stand out. We have the distant blue, the bright yellow along the rim, a green band, and another touch of yellow. Having these colors on the diagonal makes it look more graphical.

My favorite touch is the patch of yellow at the bottom. It nicely frames the green diagonal band and balances out the colors. Of course, you see the detail and texture of the individual trees when zoomed into 100%, but not at the same clarity as from the medium format Fuji GFX 50R. Will the new AI upscaling software improve the detail? Something I’ll consider if I ever print this large. However, the color bands are the most crucial element in this image. Any additional details are just icing on the cake.
