I felt obliged to feature at least one sunset photo during this landscape-oriented series. I’m a fair-weather, drive-by landscape photographer, so I don’t go much out of the way to create these images. If I happen on an interesting scene, I’ll stop and take a picture.
One downside of blogging about a trip from four years ago is that I’ve forgotten some of the details. I’m pretty sure I caught this in the middle of the Mountain Village subdivision where I stayed. The roads are low-volume, and I just parked on the side to shoot this.
The exposure information indicates a one-second exposure, which means I used a tripod—something that I vaguely remember. To capture all the nuances of the sunset, I opted to use the medium-format Fujifilm GFX instead of the Fuji X-E3. I only had a single 40mmm equivalent lens for the GFX, so I extensively cropped in post to come up with this framing. I had 51MP to play with, and the final image retained 20MP, which is more than good enough.
You can’t see much of the landscape. What attracted me to this scene was the sky and its reflection in the pond.
