Gold, Green, and Blue - Colorado

Gold, Green, and Blue – Colorado

I shot many golden trees while I was in Colorado, but often they were just past their peak with was disappointing. So you can understand how excited I was when I saw this row of brilliantly full-leaved trees at their peak.

Using the 55-200mm on the Fujifilm X-E3, I isolated the trees and bands of color above, creating a gold, green, and blue mixture of colors and shapes. This composition highlights the importance of a long telephoto for landscapes. This photo is at a 143mm equivalent.

This Colorado trip was nearly four years ago, in autumn 2021, so I’m sketchy with the details. I stopped somewhere between Telluride and Montrose to make these pictures, but I don’t remember where. Upon inspection, I realized this is the exact location as I shot yesterday’s wide scene with the GFX 50R. Mentally zoom into the trees and mountains in yesterday’s photo, and you’ll see.
