River Walk Kayaking – San Antonio, Texas

The River Walk runs flat-bottom boats for tourists interested in a little cruise around the central core. It’s a nice ride, and I’ve been on it several times with out-of-town visitors, although it’s been years since my last voyage. It was too early to run the boats, and I didn’t expect anything sneaking past me on the water.

Kayaks were an unexpected treat, but I wasn’t properly set up to take the picture. I scrambled and managed to get a shot that looks pretty good. The Fujifilm GFX 50R is a deliberate camera and is not very fast. It’s great for landscapes but not the best for quicker action.

The arched bridge was a bonus that tied the picture together, adding another dimension. The kayakers cover the foreground, and the bridge creates a mid-ground element. Then, we have the sufficiently detailed hotel as an old-world background. It looks almost European, and many would be surprised to learn this is from Texas.
