In keeping with the circular theme, I have one more picture from LAX. However, as you can see, the circular element is very different. Shot from this perspective, the fisheye distortion is greatly muted. The subtle cues are the distorted pipe and chair legs at the extreme edge.

If you keep the main elements in the center, you don’t see the characteristic bowing of the usually straight lines. Not that I was trying to minimize the distortion. I embraced it using the lens, going for a completely different kind of look. This entire Hawaii series is about my experience with the fisheye. However, while playing with this lens, I discovered its quirks and learned how to minimize or maximize the fisheye effect.

I shot this picture in 2022, and curiously, I Googled Loteria Grill to see if they are still around. Yes, Google Maps indicated three locations in the LA metro area, including two in LAX. I am glad to see they are still in business.
