The place was clearly once a gas station, though the pumps are now gone. The sizable awning is also a big giveaway. I’m not a structural engineer, but those supports look awfully spindly. I’m sure it wouldn’t pass building codes now.
The side view of the gas station creates a dramatic view. You can use a wide-angle lens to capture the protruding awning in a distorted perspective. However, the Fujifilm GF35-70mm only creates a 28mm equivalent at its widest setting. Use a super-wide zoom, and you can produce some wacky results or perhaps a fisheye like I recently showcased of Hawaii.
The head-on view from the front doesn’t look nearly as exciting. Though, again, a super-wide lens would have created a more worthwhile distorted effect.
