Alleyway Sun – Taylor, Texas

The backlit trees in this alleyway looked visually enticing, illuminated by the warm late afternoon sun. The post-processing worked out better than I had hoped, creating a lovely spring scene with a well-controlled glow of the sun. I have a fascination with nature, which is reclaiming its place from man-made infrastructure.

As you can infer from this series, downtown Taylor is undergoing a transition. There are businesses and structures in decline, countered by new investments that aim to revive part of the urban core. We see here nature trying to reassert its dominance with trees randomly springing up.

I found this location in Google Street View, and the alleyway may have been paved in the past, although it’s hard to determine that for sure. If so, the once-paved area is now being overtaken by grasses and trees. Over time, the buildings will succumb if not saved. You can see how, over thousands of years, ancient towns disappear back into nature.
