Taylor, Texas, isn’t particularly large, especially the historic downtown core. Walking a few blocks revealed large open spaces and minimal buildings.
There are man-made structures, as you can see, mixed with generous helpings of nature. The large tree is balanced by a group of telephone poles. The unstructured roadway meanders through grasses. Grain siloes and railroad crossings offer that country feel.
While not a classic landscape with no dramatic mountains, flowing rivers, or fall color, it seems deceptively plain. This is not Colorado or even the Texas Hill Country, but there is a quiet charm of nature and non-nature in harmony.
