Just to the left of yesterday’s Chulia Street is One Raffles Place, a shopping center along with two skyscrapers. You can see part of the facade with the purple glow emanating from the left.

The taller tower on the left, at 920 feet, was substantial and completed in 1986. According to the Business Times, it was the tallest tower outside the United States. The second tower rises to 686 feet and was completed in 2012; that’s the one with the bright purple LED accents.

I didn’t know anything about the shopping center, which I didn’t visit, or the history of the skyscrapers above. I was passing by on the way to dinner and was attracted to its brilliant lighting.
