Amid the smoke, liveliness, and the great food at the hawker center, I looked up. I marveled at the modern skyline.
I’ve seen many skylines before, but this felt different. It was denser than most places and all new. More than that, however, it was the juxtaposition to the old Victorian hawker center and the open smoking pits of Satay Street that added the contrast.
With 6 million people living in a small city-state, there’s a lot of density. But not in an oppressive way. At least in the central business district, there’s much variety that adds points of interest and fun contrasts. Something perfect for travel photography.
