We move from Orchard Road, the upscale shopping district, to somewhere that is even fancier and perhaps even better known—the Raffles Hotel. The Raffles is Singapore’s most famous hotel with suite-only accommodations and a world-renowned butler service. The hotel was established in 1887 and underwent a complete restoration in 1991. In 2019, it was thoroughly modernized while preserving the historic charm.
I would’ve loved to take pictures inside. However, the Raffles is the kind of hotel you can’t enter unless you stay there. Or perhaps invited by a hotel guest. However, my mother and I did go there for a particular reason, which I will discuss in an upcoming post.
I went all the way to the front of the property to make this photo of the facade. However, with a 24mm lens, I was hard-pressed to include the entire building. I managed to capture the main entrance, where you can appreciate its handsome colonial architecture.
