You can imagine the Singapore Sling is a popular drink at the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel. That’s where the drink was invented. The bartender was making them constantly.

I took this portrait during a mixing session. I used the Sony with the 24mm f2.8 lens, focusing on the bartender but making sure not to get too close. A moderately wide lens would cause unwanted distortion.

Even with a wide-angle lens, I got foreground blur at f/2.8, though not enough to lose the context. An alternative would’ve been to focus on the drinks and blur out the bartender. However, I intended the photograph to be about the bartender and not the drinks he was mixing.
