Here’s the last post from downtown Singapore before we head to the airport. I shot this on the last night and walked around with the Sigma 85mm f1.4 attached to the Sony A7C. As I explained yesterday, while an 85mm is not a typical urban landscape lens, it offered enough of a difference from the 24mm wide-angle I’ve used throughout this Singapore trip.
I walked west along Boat Quay and shot east towards the bridges and the skyline. While I didn’t take this photo from the same spot as this image, it’s close. More importantly, it shows the difference between a 24mm and an 85mm focal length.
The 85mm telephoto has compressed the space between the urban elements. The two bridges, one red and the other blue, the hotel on the right, and the distant skyline all look stacked together. In a way, all of these district structures meld into a single large visual object.
