I talked about how the rooftop space at the casa transforms at night with glowing lamps and string lights. The same can be said of the surrounding buildings, where they take on a more elevated look.
Viewed during the day, the clutter and decay of the old city dominate. At night, the shadows hide the clutter, and the glow of the windows adds surprising interest, especially with a bit of color.
I particularly like this building next door. We still have the benefit of the ornate architecture; however, the purples, yellows, and blues in the windows add that extra pizzazz. There’s enough ambient light to illuminate the facade. Unexpected in this old neighborhood. In reality, the photograph might look better than in person, with a wide aperture and a higher ISO to pull in extra light.
