Diamela, Environmental Portrait - Havana, Cuba

Diamela, Environmental Portrait – Havana, Cuba

The 5th day of the Cuba trip had no more officially scheduled events. We had unstructured time to do whatever we wanted. One option was to have a one-on-one session with a model. Diamela was available, so we arranged for a couple of hours in the afternoon to go around the city.

As you can imagine, I took a lot of photos and struggled to figure out how to present them on the blog. I’ve decided on a mini-series of three posts with three of my favorites. There were many more pictures that I liked, but I had to make the hard decision to limit them to three shots.

I prefer environmental portraits to studio portraits, though we didn’t really have any classic studio pictures on this trip. However, these portraits were truly environmental, using available light, allowing me to combine a model with the Old Havana architecture that fascinated me. Here we have Diamela in open shade, which created some nice lighting.
