Tomorrow, my son and I are starting an ambitious 4 state college road trip. You may recall that last December, we visited three large universities in Chicago and Madison. Well, my son just finished his Junior year and we are stepping up the search.
We are primarily looking at smaller colleges and universities this time. Though we will stop at a couple of larger state schools, since they’re on the way. We’re driving, which is an adventure in itself, I guess. Our family doesn’t do much long distance driving and we’ve never done a family road trip.
The first school is in Memphis, Tennessee. Since we didn’t want to drive 10 hours straight, we’re stopping overnight in Texarkana, a city built on the Texas-Arkansas border. From Memphis, we will backtrack through Arkansas, into Oklahoma and back into Texas.
Beyond the parental duties of ensuring a good higher education, I’ll have a chance to take photos, of course. The Panasonic ZS50, known as a travel zoom, sounds perfectly up to the task. I’ll also bring my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, as backup, with a smattering of lenses.
