As seen on Waikiki Beach, towards the evening, a girl with surfboard.
I’m posting this to my Photo Sketchbook Collection, as part of an experiment in post production. The entire purpose of the sketchbook is to try something new, which I find difficult — old habits and styles die hard. It’s also about taking a point and shoot, like the modest Panasonic ZS50, pushing it and my abilities, to see what I can create.
I experimented with a few different monochrome conversions but opted for this contrasty, darker version. The silhouetted girl with a touch of detail adds more mystery, I think, while the textured foreground adds interest. The high contrast conversion has rendered the sky pure white, which blends into the background.
Perhaps the super contrasty black and whites, that I get automatically from the Pentax Q7, have influenced me.
