As a followup to a photograph I posted several weeks ago, here’s another image from the same market in India. As I explained in that post, I was in India in 2012, for a business trip, and had a couple of extra days to do a whirlwind photographic tour. I went to some noteworthy tourist spots, but I was also drawn to the every day places that are frequented by locals.
My driver took me to a large open air market that sold almost everything. This boy, surrounded by women’s undergarments, attracted my attention. While atypical in the U.S. and an interesting subject, I was drawn primarily to the mosaic of color and repeating shapes — it made for a unique backdrop for this portrait. Shot with the now ancient Olympus E-PL1 with the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens.
Part of my Travelgram Collection, where I seek travel photos beyond the typical post cards.
