I mentioned yesterday, that I did a day trip to San Antonio, to listen to my son’s orchestra performance. I was in a wonderful concert hall, next to the convention center, in downtown, right by the famous River Walk. A lovely architectural space that was worth a separate post.
Originally built for the 1968 HemisFair World Fair, this 2,500 seat facility was recently renovated. Though not like the old-world ornate theaters, the place is sufficiently grand to impress. Certainly a wonderful place for a middle school orchestra to perform and a rare treat.
Though I thought this theater was larger than any in Austin, I was mistaken. The Bass Concert Hall on the University of Texas campus seats 3,000. The Moody Theater, the newest, where they film the Austin City Limits is at 2,750. The Long Center is nearly as large at 2,442.
I brought my Olympus 9-18mm super wide-angle specifically for the architecture, which I was hoping would be worth while. I shot several images after the concert, with my E-M5 Mark II.
