I’m always looking for opportunities to make photographs different from the typical tourists views. This is especially true in a place like Kinkakuji, which has an iconic view but with limited options for something different.
I found this path behind the famous temple, which leads to the exit. It a classic leading lines photograph but with the added bonus of a cute hut and tourists in kimono.
While I’m not above making snapshots of the typical tourists views, I’m usually happier making these kind of images. Just a nondescript area but with elements that make it more interesting for me, photographically. I know it’s not perfect, after all it’s a found image. I would’ve preferred not having anyone by the hut and having one women in a kimono, closer up. But, I found it’s often unlikely that all the elements fall into place. I took the shot quickly, since it had most of the details I wanted.

How wrong can you go with those leading lines and the classic kimono?
