They looked huge, but we each got our own. Amazingly, they were light — dare I say, almost healthy. Nothing like the ones in Texas, where ours are heavy and dense.
We heard a lot about California Burritos and off to the Mission District we went, for our first lunch in San Francisco. The Internet and concierge agreed, La Taqueria was the place.
The timing couldn’t have been better. The last table and a healthy but not outrageous ordering line. They were closing the next day too, for several days, for Christmas.
It was crowded, crazy crowded by the time we left. The line, out the door and spilled on to the sidewalk. We enjoyed our first taste of California and the trip to La Taqueria was probably worth it. My son thought it was overrated. Maybe he liked the stout Texas version better. After all, Texas is no slouch for Mexican-like food.
