While making those Art-ish images of Taylor was a bonus, the real reason I went was to shoot my friend and his band. They performed at the Black Sparrow back on Friday, nearly two weeks ago. It’s a nice venue. Decidedly more casual and cleaner than the ones in Austin.
I’m starting first with a somewhat artistic rendering of their live music performance. From this vantage point, I suppose they can be any band, but I like creating these kinds of images. For supposedly living in the “Live Music Capital of the World”, as Austin likes to market, I don’t do much band photography. The occasional SXSW performance and a few miscellaneous photos when the opportunity presents.
I’m back shooting with my Olympus PEN-F for this photograph, with my usual 25mm f1.4. Making these kinds of photographs with the Olympus is easy, especially since I usually shoot it in black and white mode. This photo, however, is a RAW converted to black and white — processed dark and contrasty with a hint of the audience.
