I did more beach walking than swimming on my latest trip to Hawaii. Camera in hand — strolling, observing, and recording.
What is collectively called Waikiki Beach is actually comprised of 8 beach districts. Fort DeRussy Beach is towards the western end, fronting the Fort DeRussy Beach Park and the armed services recreational area. On previous trips, I haven’t walked this stretch. But I discovered a pleasant path that leads to the famous Hilton Hawaiian Village.
This section of Waikiki Beach is not nearly as eroded as yesterday’s area. The Friday night fireworks were on hold due to COVID. However, this is a great place to view them once they start up again.
