Kaka’ako Street Art – Honolulu, Hawaii

I’m featuring the most elaborate and precise mural I’ve ever seen for the last in this street art mini-series, I’m not sure what it is, but I like it. The artwork looks like water or smoke emanating from the gas pipe.

I found the precise location of this building on Google StreetView. And, like I mentioned yesterday, Google’s image is different from this one. Take a look at another mural on StreetView. It’s a shame that these works of art are transitory. Perhaps the fact that they are fleeting makes them more special like Tibetan sand mandalas.

A photographic history of these murals will be a worthy subject for a photo book. Something that, unfortunately, will be hard for me to do — I don’t go to Hawaii that often. However, the next time I’m there, I’ll definitely document the next work of art.
