Sarah makes her first appearance on the blog, shot at the Ballroom in Central Austin this past January.
As I recall, Sarah posed dynamically, so she moved around and tried many poses. Keeping up with someone who moves quickly can be a challenge in marginal light, especially if the camera doesn’t sport the newest face and eye detection technology. The Fujifilm X-S10 is noticeably faster than the Fuji GFX 50S II. That’s one of the reasons I switch to the smaller X-S10 for Drink and Click portraits. Still, ensuring I get sharp focus on the eyes — a good rule of thumb for portraiture — requires constant vigilance and a honed technique.
I like this pose from Sarah, which I have yet to do for others. I’m sure it has a lot to do with her creative movement. I wrote yesterday how three of the last portraits had the subject looking right. At least Sarah breaks this trend.
